2011 Specialized Hardrock

Specialized takes entry level to the next level with the Hardrock. Crafted from their A1 Premium aluminum, the frame is light, durable and nimble, while the SR SunTour fork offers up 80mm of bump-busting travel. Its tough Alex rims will stand up to years of commuting and singletrack riding and the Shimano 21-speed drivetrain will get you up any climb. Comments:

I recently purchase this bike. I have approx 100 miles on it so far. The rim brakes stop fast than my friends disc brakes. This is light and nimble and the double wall rims are very sturdy. I love the SRAM shifters. They are very ergonomic. I loved the bike so much I talked my sister into buying one just like it and she loves hers as well. I am new to MTB and this bike is great for me.

After almost 500 miles on this bike. I have very few things to complain about. Other than normal adjustments after riding several miles and some lil operator comforts. This bike is a great value.

Bought the bike last week, took it our for a ride with my wife and boys -- Bike/horse trails. Loved the comfort of the bike and am very pleased with it thus far. Looking forward to getting a little rough with it in future rides. I want to test the shocks and really see how the SRAM shifters will hold up. I'm a 46 year old dude who is not into competing; just looking for a nice comfortable ride and I found it with this bike.

Bought this bike in a 13" frame for my son who is 12 - he is 5'0" and about 100 lbs - I wanted something that was good enough so it would last him at least 4-5 years and was rugged enough so he could ride it on or off the road.

                        Comments:

For the price, a mountain bike isn't going to get much better. I've listed the pros and cons, and I stand by them. You get more than what you pay for. If you are an avid cyclist, you can take this mountain bike for miles. I've been taking it for 20-25 mile rides about 4 or 5 times a week and it's been holding it up well. I've had it for about a month and I have between 300 and 400 miles on it already... it feels like it can do this forever, providing you keep up with maintenance (like anything else). I test rode a trek alongside this one, and the trek didn't feel as smooth and refined as the specialized. For under 400 dollars, this is one of the best mountain bikes you can buy. I also ride this thing downhill at 30 miles an hour... it's capable of a lot.
